Why use one

Hard driving raises engine oil temperatures to very high levels, and the turbo runs hottest of all. Switching off straight away stops the oil flow while the turbo is still hot, which can make the oil coke up in the lines. The D1 Turbo Timer keeps the engine running for the time you set, so the oil and turbo cool down properly first.

Fitting

The D1 Turbo Timer is wired into the ignition circuit, usually with a vehicle-specific harness. Fitting needs basic auto-electrical knowledge, so if you are not confident, have it installed by an auto electrician. Never leave a car idling unattended in an enclosed space.

Setting it up

Set a longer cool-down after track days or hard driving and a short one for gentle driving. On naturally aspirated engines the timer still lets the oil and coolant settle after a hard run before the engine stops.
