Where it is used
The Motul Gearbox 80W90 oil is for all mechanical transmissions: synchronised or non synchronised gearboxes, gearbox/differential units, transfer gearboxes and hypoid differentials without limited slip, operating under shocks and heavy loads at low speed or moderate loads at high speed.
Protection
Very high lubricating power decreases friction and wear, and the molybdenum bisulphide helps it handle heavy loads. The Motul Gearbox 80W90 oil stays in 90 grade after the KRL 20 hour shear test to SAE J306.
Hot running
The SAE 90 grade of the Motul Gearbox 80W90 oil when hot gives an outstanding oil film and helps reduce transmission noise. It suits any type of seal and yellow metal used in gearbox design.
Not for limited slip
This is not a limited slip differential oil. For LSD units choose an oil with friction modifiers, such as the Gear 300 LS linked below.
Drain the old oil warm, refit the drain plug with a new washer where needed, and fill to the level plug or the capacity your vehicle maker gives. Use the grade and GL rating your gearbox or differential calls for. Check the old oil as it drains: metal particles or a burnt smell can point to wear worth investigating.
