How it works

The Street Basis IS200 kit is from the Tein Street Basis Z range. The top of each shell pipe is narrowed, oil and gas are injected, and the unit is sealed by crimping the metal, which shortens production and keeps the price down. The twin-tube design gives a longer stroke with a smaller repulsive force than a regular mono-tube damper, so the car rides gaps and bumps steadily, with a smooth ride at low speed and stability at high speed.

On the Street Basis IS200 kit, ride height is set by moving the lower spring seat up or down on the threaded body, a simple layout that is easy to use. Damping is fixed, with the valving matched to the supplied springs. The kit uses the original upper mounts from the car, so check they are in good condition before fitting.

Built to last

The Street Basis IS200 shell case is finished in TEIN-green powder coat, applied with a patented 2-layer, 1-bake method over a blasted surface, and the ride height thread has ZTP coating against gravel, debris and rust. The damper oil holds a stable viscosity across a broad temperature range and resists foaming, heat and deterioration over time.

Fitment

The Street Basis IS200 kit fits the Lexus IS200 (GXE10) from 2000 to 2005 and the Toyota Altezza (SXE10 and GXE10) from 1998 to 2005, 2.0 rear-wheel drive. Setting up

Set the Street Basis IS200 ride height within the recommended range shown in the table, keep it even from side to side, then have the wheel alignment checked. Going beyond the recommended range may cause clearance or interference issues and may void the product warranty.

The Street Basis IS200 setting reduces the slow overall response and rear wobble of the standard car, with ride comfort for everyday driving in mind. At the rear, the diagonal pitching that often happens over undulations is removed, which improves stability.
