What it does

The NTK 24542 Lambda measures oxygen in the exhaust and sends the reading to the ECU, which trims fuelling to keep the mixture correct for emissions and economy.

Design

The NTK 24542 Lambda has an 18mm thread and 22mm hex, with the OE type connector and attaching hardware for a plug in fit. A heated sensor reaches working temperature quickly after a cold start, so the ECU can move into closed loop fuel control sooner. The dual coated platinum element gives long life and a quick response.

Signs of a worn sensor

A tired sensor can respond slowly, which can show as poor fuel consumption, rough idle or a fault code. Fitting a new NTK 24542 Lambda restores a correct reading to the ECU.

Choosing the right part

Lambda sensors differ by wire count, lead length, connector and position in the exhaust. Upstream sensors sit before the catalytic converter and control fuelling; downstream sensors sit after it and monitor the converter. Compare the old sensor with this one before fitting.

Fit with the exhaust cool, use a proper sensor socket and route the lead away from hot exhaust parts. Do not get grease or cleaner on the sensor tip.
