What they do

The Tein Coilover Spanners suit spring seats with an outer diameter from 70 to 150mm, so one set covers a wide range of coilover kits. An application chart printed on the back of the package shows suitable TEIN and other products.

There is a 12.7mm (1/2 in.) hole for attaching a spinner handle, a 17mm hex hole for pre-tightening the top nut, and a projection for anchoring the bracket on full-length adjustable coilovers.

The spanners are only 6mm thick, against 8 to 9mm for a general purpose wrench, so they hold well on most types of spring seat. They are made from chromium-vanadium alloy steel with a polished mirror finish, and the round shape and increased overlap area make them comfortable and easy to work with.

Using them

To change the ride height, loosen the lock ring with one spanner while holding the spring seat with the other, wind the seat to the height you want, then lock it again. Use the same height on each side of an axle, and recheck the locks after a short drive. On some kits one side has left-hand threads, for example the front left of the Street Basis Z kit for the Integra DC5, so check which way to turn before you start.
