How it works

Each AeroCatch 120 Locking catch has a lightweight glass-reinforced thermoplastic housing with a hinged, spring-loaded stainless steel shear pin. The pin engages a slot in the aluminium strike, holding the bonnet, boot, tailgate or other panel shut at speed. The handle stays visible if the catch is not closed correctly, and it is not a trip hazard when closed. The locking version adds a key lock to each catch, which AeroCatch recommends for a road car.

Fitting

To fit the AeroCatch 120 Locking kit, mark the panel using the cardboard template or the inside of the fixing plate, then cut and drill carefully. Aim for the strike stud to sit at right angles to the housing; there is a 5 degree tolerance for misalignment. The rubber bump stops are 40mm long and are cut to length to slide over the strikes. Adjust the strikes so the bonnet needs a little pressure to close and the load stays on the bump stops.

Choosing a version

AeroCatch is a universal product, and the panel must be fairly flat for a correct fit. The 120 Series fits from above and the 125 Series from below, and both come in locking and non-locking kits. The position of the strike can decide where the catch sits on the panel, so plan where the AeroCatch 120 Locking catches will sit before cutting.
