Thin quick steering wheel NRG-SRK-400BK from NRG Innovations: lets you remove and refit your steering wheel quickly, used together with the correct NRG short hub for your vehicle.

Our thinnest possible Quick Release, at just around 1″ in total depth. While it be a bit clunky in comparison to our typical “ball-locking” style, we have found that in some cases when space is very cramped, this Quick Release is the only option that will work.

NRG describes the thin quick steering wheel as its thinnest possible quick release, at around 1″ in total depth. It is a bit clunkier in use than NRG’s typical ball locking style, but where space is very tight it can be the only quick release option that will work.

Choosing and fitting the thin quick steering wheel

When choosing the thin quick steering wheel, you also need the correct NRG short hub for your vehicle, as the quick release fits between the hub and the steering wheel. Before removing a factory wheel, disconnect the battery and follow the airbag safety steps for your vehicle. Once fitted, check the locking action every time the wheel is refitted, and have the work done by a competent fitter if you are unsure.

A quick release lets you remove the steering wheel when the car is parked, which helps with access in tight cabins and can act as a visible theft deterrent. When choosing one, think about the depth it adds between the hub and wheel, as a slim design keeps the wheel closer to the dash while a deeper design brings it closer to the driver. Always check that the release locks fully before driving, and keep the mechanism clean so it operates smoothly.
