Exoracing Turbo Downpipe Flange Installation guide:

Here is our step-by-step guide on how to replace your own Evo 4-9 downpipe flange. Please note that this job is only suitable for experienced welders and fabricators; if it is outside your skill set, we highly recommend a professional installation.

1. Ensure your car is switched off and that it has cooled down if it was recently running to prevent burning yourself.
2. Take the downpipe out of the car by removing all the bolts from the turbo side of the downpipe, and the bolts holding the downpipe to the centre section of exhaust.
3. You can now remove the elbow section of the downpipe to make it easier to work on.
4. If you are making your own downpipe, you can now start to make a collector for your downpipe flange. If you are replacing your old flange, you can now cut this from the elbow section.
5. Before welding anything back together, measure, measure and measure again. Once you’re happy, tack the flange into place and do a quick test fit to ensure no fouling on the engine or chassis.
6. Now you’ve confirmed everything is lined up properly and will not foul, you can finish welding your downpipe flange, ensuring an even weld the entire way around the flange.
7. Before refitting, pass a straight edge over the face of the flange to ensure no warpage has occurred during the welding process.
8. You can now bolt back your entire exhaust system, following the manufacturer’s recommended torque settings.
9. We recommend running your car through a few heat cycles and then re-torquing everything, just for the peace of mind that everything is as it should be.
